Excursions: Wandering Wonderful Indonesia

I am a wanderlust. I like to travel and the beauty of the nature gives me peace and calmness. That is why I was so grateful to be assigned here in Majalengka because it is blessed with numerous beautiful attractions.

My first meal in Indonesia. If I'm not mistaken this is called "Ayam Goreng Komplit".

January 7, 2019, our first day. After we were introduced to the faculty of UnMa, we went to Paralayang, from here we can see the entirety of the Majestic Majalengka. We were also able to go here at night and it is twice as beautiful and is very peaceful. Perfect place to relax.

January 8, 2019. We were introduced to the students of the faculty of education of UnMa. After that, we went three places. First is the BJB Kertajati Airport (lower right photo). This is a recently built airport in Majalengka and because of the beauty of the airport, people usually go here not to catch their flights but to simply do picnic. Second is we went to Bandung Rentang to have lunch. It's an enormous river, or somehow like an irrigation maybe, but it was known to people because one of the games in the SEA games, which is canoeing was held in here. During our travel, our coordinator bought some lanzones and durian. Lastly, we went to Jatiwangi Art Factory. I loved the place not only because of the beautiful artworks but because of the concept of the place. It was a roof tile company before. But since people do not use roof tile anymore, they transformed the place to an art factory to preserve the roof tiles and the memories shared by the people who worked in the company.

January 9, 2019. We also explored the public market of Majalengka, Cigasong. After walking around, we realized that public markets in Indonesia are very similar with that in the Philipines.

The night of January 9, 2019, we went to Cirebon. It is like one of the most urbanized cities in Indonesia. We had dinner together with the Vice Rector of UnMa, Dr. Rahayu, and also with Bu Tini.

This was our dinner, one of my favorite food in Indonesia, Empal Gentong and Kambing (goat) skewers. Warning, this is extremely delicious and might just ruin your diet.

Dr. Rahayu also took us to Batik Trusmi, the largest Batik shop in Cirebon. She also bought us some Batik, the Mega Mandung, traditional batik from Cirebon. Again, we were very grateful to her.

The night did not end in Batik Trusmi. Dr. Rahayu took us to the house of her sister, Dr. Ryta. She makes the decoupage art and did not hesitate to teach us how to make decoupage art.

This is the result of my hardwork,

January 20, 2019. We went back to Cirebon to attend a wedding.

This photo was taken at the wedding's venue.

January 31, 2019. We went to Talaga Manggung. It is like a museum and the belongings of the previous (Sundanese) king were preserved in the place. Unfortunately, the place is being renovated. So, we went to another place. This house is were the direct descendants of the King lives. And some of the belongings of the royal family were also in here.

Then we had lunch in Kuningan, the name of the restaurant was Bubulak Food and View. Well, the name suits the place because the view of from the restaurant was as good as their food.

And lastly, we went to Linggardjati, a very historical place in Indonesia. The Linggardjati agreement took place here, It is a political agreement between the Dutch and the Indonesian.

All in all, I loved travelling here in Indonesia because of all these beautiful places.

But at the end of the day, what amazed me most about Majalengka is not the beautiful sceneries, although the places are undeniably breathtaking, it’s also not the delicious food, although I think I gained weight here in Indonesia, but what amazed me most about Majalengka is the people. Everyone is baik hati or kind hearted in English. I was amazed on how warmly they have welcomed us and how well they treated us since the first day. I would like to specifically mention our coordinators, Pa Yoyo, Bu Rahma, Bu Tini and also Mang Cucu. Thank you for taking us to different places in Majalengka and also for taking of us. Moreover, I would like to express my gratitude to our student buddies, Diana, Novy, Nizam, and Dimas, thank you for your company.
